Pelè Raymond Ugboajah, PhD.

Pelè is a leadership development author, educator, and coach. His methodology involves a mix of organizational development psychology and the real-life lessons he has learned from his own circuitous story.

Born and raised in a war-torn African refugee village, he was named after Pelè of Brazil – the greatest soccer player on earth – whose influence was so great that it stopped a civil war for two days in 1967. Inspired by the myth of his namesake, Pelè Raymond refused to believe that his own dreams were impossible. With nothing but the clothes on his back and a head full of passion, he overcame numerous obstacles and began a journey from third world poverty to the highest reaches of the American dream.

Pelè is an avid innovator, storyteller and musician, and has worked for over 15 years in various corporate leadership positions and entrepreneurial ventures. Starting out as a corporate ‘evangelist’, he helped to create a $200 million dollar business by giving software sales presentations to leading companies across the globe. Later, as director of marketing at a $20-billion-dollar company, he led a global effort to establish the corporation as a leader in the enterprise software marketplace.

Pelè holds an MBA and a PhD in the field of leadership development, and maintains an enduring passion for writing and creating music. Over the years, he has authored several books and songs, and has spoken to diverse business audiences. In 1996, Pelè produced six songs for Alexander O’Neal’s EMI album (Billboard #58), and in 2006, he became the Toastmasters District 6 Champion of Public Speaking.

Today, through innovative motivation, music, and mentoring programs, Pelè helps leaders find purpose, success, and fulfillment in their lives and work, and spurs them on to live their dreams and achieve their highest potential.
